Trump appeals fraud case as $112,000-a-day interest accrues
Former President Donald Trump is appealing a court ruling that he pay $45.8 million to investors in a failed real estate project in Baja California, as interest accrues at a rate of $112,000 a day.
The case stems from a lawsuit filed against Trump by investors who alleged fraud in the development of the Trump Ocean Resort in Baja, which went bankrupt in 2008. A federal court ruled in favor of the investors in 2019, ordering Trump to pay them $44 million in damages and $1.8 million in legal fees.
Trump has appealed the ruling, but in the meantime, interest on the judgment continues to accrue at a staggering rate. If he loses the appeal, Trump could be on the hook for even more money.
