Burkina Faso says 170 dead in village ‘executions’

Burkina Faso has reported that 170 people were killed in what appears to be a series of “executions” in a village in the northern part of the country. The government has condemned the killings and launched an investigation into the incident.

The village, called Solhan, was attacked by unidentified gunmen who stormed the area on motorbikes and carried out the killings. The attackers also set fire to homes and buildings in the village, leading to widespread destruction.

President Roch Kabore has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice and has called for national unity in the face of such brutality. The violence in Burkina Faso is part of a larger conflict that has been plaguing the Sahel region, with extremist groups carrying out attacks on civilian populations.

The international community has condemned the violence in Burkina Faso and has called for efforts to address the root causes of the conflict and bring an end to the bloodshed.
