Biden hopes for Gaza ceasefire by next week
President Joe Biden expressed hope that a ceasefire in Gaza could be reached by next week in order to bring an end to the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas.
Following a week of escalating conflict and mounting civilian casualties, President Biden has been in communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other regional leaders to push for a resolution to the crisis.
The United States has been working behind the scenes to broker a ceasefire agreement that would halt the hostilities and provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza who have been caught in the crossfire.
President Biden has reiterated his commitment to Israel’s right to defend itself against rocket attacks from Hamas, but has also called for restraint and de-escalation to prevent further loss of life.
As the violence continues to escalate, the international community is calling for an immediate ceasefire and a return to negotiations towards a lasting peace agreement in the region.
