Talking Therapies May Help Menopause Mood – Study

A recent study has found that talking therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and counseling, may help improve mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in women going through menopause.

The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, looked at the effects of different types of talking therapies on menopausal women experiencing mood swings and emotional distress. The results showed that women who participated in CBT or counseling sessions reported a significant decrease in symptoms compared to those who did not receive any therapy.

Menopause can be a challenging time for many women, as hormonal changes can lead to mood swings, irritability, and feelings of sadness or anxiety. Talking therapies offer a safe and supportive environment for women to explore their emotions, learn coping strategies, and develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving.

While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is often used to treat menopausal symptoms, some women may prefer non-pharmacological interventions like talking therapies. These therapies can be a valuable alternative or complement to medication, providing women with the tools they need to manage their emotions and improve their quality of life during menopause.
