New US-Russian Crew Heads to Space Station

On April 9th, a new crew consisting of both American and Russian astronauts launched to the International Space Station from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The crew members include NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei and Russian cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Pyotr Dubrov.

This mission marks the second time that a crew has launched to the ISS on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. The crew is set to spend six months aboard the space station conducting research and carrying out various experiments.

Upon arrival at the ISS, the crew will join the current members of Expedition 66 and work together to support ongoing scientific research and maintenance of the space station.
