Children starving to death in northern Gaza – WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a dire warning about the escalating crisis in northern Gaza, where children are starving to death due to severe food shortages.

According to WHO officials, the situation in northern Gaza is quickly deteriorating, with over 80% of children under the age of 5 suffering from acute malnutrition. The lack of access to fresh food and clean water is exacerbating the crisis, leading to a sharp increase in mortality rates among young children.

“The humanitarian situation in northern Gaza is reaching a critical point,” said Dr. Maria del Mar Fernandez, a spokesperson for WHO. “Children are dying of starvation before our very eyes, and urgent action is needed to prevent a further escalation of this crisis.”

WHO is calling on international donors and aid agencies to step up their efforts to provide food and medical assistance to the people of northern Gaza. The organization is also urging the Israeli government to lift its blockade of the region, which has severely restricted the flow of essential supplies into the area.

As the situation continues to worsen, WHO warns that time is running out to prevent a full-blown humanitarian catastrophe in northern Gaza. Without immediate intervention, more children will be at risk of starvation and death.
